Business Volunteers for the Arts

Use your skills in new and challenging ways as you gain leadership experience, network and get to know an arts organization. As the coordinating organization for Business Volunteers for the Arts/Cincinnati, ArtsWave's Art Services department matches organizations in need of specific project help with business professional volunteers, with at least three years of experience, in areas such as marketing, finance, board development and strategic planning. Following completion of the project, BVAs are often asked to join the Board of Trustees or continue their involvement in other ways.

Best Suited For:

Business professionals interested in using their current skill sets in new and challenging ways, are interested in networking, and meeting new colleagues and have a few hours per week to commit to volunteering.

Projects:

Volunteers are matched with an arts organization to work on a project that fits with both their interests and skill set.
Project examples include assisting with:

  • Creating a marketing plan
  • Strategic planning
  • Accounting
  • Special event planning
  • Web site development
  • Graphic design

Project Scope:

Most projects average six to eight months in length, with a typical time commitment of approximately two hours per week.

Training:

BVA volunteers participate in a mandatory two-hour orientation session that is required before being matched on a project to ensure success.

Fee: None
