Sampler Continues...

Sampler Weekend celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year and ArtsWave is doing something new - scheduling the Arts Sampler over six weekends during the 12-week Community Campaign.  Sponsored by Macy’s, the ArtsWave Sampler Weekends celebrate the creative things happening throughout our region with free music, theatre, dance, museums and festivals.

Gypsy Dancing at Sampler 2011Sampler Weekend continues this Saturday, March 26th, and shines a spotlight on neighborhood arts groups in Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, and Northside.  Visitors to Kennedy Heights Arts Center can make-and-take crafts before and after a lively demonstration by the Kennedy World Drum Ensemble.  Visitors will play along with African and Latin rhythms on drums and other percussion instruments. Just down the street, Arts Innovation Movement’s studio dancers perform a preview of Lords of the Jungle and other dances at 1 pm.  Wrap up the tour of the neighborhood with a concert by Cincinnati May Festival at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church at 3:30 pm.

In Northside, stop in and visit the artists at Visionaries and Voices, Prairie Gallery, Thunder-Sky, and Dramakinetics to participate in everything from ceramic arts to dramatic dance to origami.

Cincinnati Art Museum hosts performances, exhibits and crafts throughout the day starting at 11 am, including performances of “Look Out, Galileo!” by Madcap Puppet Theatre.
