ArtsWave Board Training Program Seeks New Recruits

Cincinnati, OH – June 11, 2012 – ArtsWave announces its Fall 2012 class of BOARDway Bound, a comprehensive arts board training program designed to engage business and community volunteers in the arts. ArtsWave is now accepting applications for the fall program which includes six sessions, beginning Wednesday, September 5th.

A vibrant arts scene provides benefits for everyone in the community, connecting people and making our region a great place to live. Strong arts organizations with talented volunteer leadership are the foundation of that arts scene. BOARDway Bound prepares business professionals for board roles through a series of classroom sessions and Web-based presentations and then links them to Greater Cincinnati arts and culture organizations.

Companies see BOARDway Bound as a tool for developing high potential employees and increasing community engagement. Since its inauguration in 2004, BOARDway Bound has placed more than 200 candidates from major companies throughout Cincinnati, including Duke Energy, Mercy Health Partners, Messer Construction, PNC Bank, Thompson Hine, and more.

“It was an invaluable experience,” said Stephanie Burke, a BOARDway Bound graduate and Asst. Director of Career Services at University of Cincinnati, College of Business. “I not only gained great knowledge on how non-profits work, but more importantly gained a much finer appreciation for the arts and many organizations I would like to support in the coming years.”

Training sessions are held at the ArtsWave offices, 20 East Central Parkway, downtown. Participants learn the fundamentals of non-profit arts volunteering, everything from how to read a non-profit financial report to how to be an effective fundraiser and advocate. The program offers opportunities to discover Cincinnati’s thriving arts scene and to meet other local professionals with a passion for music, dance, theater, museums, and more.

Interested applicants should be business professionals who are motivated, wish to engage in leadership opportunities in the arts and culture sector, and can devote the time necessary to complete the program. For more information and an application, contact Joyce.Monger@theartswave.org.
