Frisch’s Corporate Art Collection Auction on EBTH to Benefit ArtsWave Campaign
Continuing a longstanding community partnership, Frisch’s and ArtsWave are pleased to engage Cincinnati-based start-up and now nationally successful online auction house EVERYTHING BUT THE HOUSE (EBTH) for a unique auction experience. April 10 – 16, 2017 proceeds from the sale of an exclusive collection of artwork will benefit the ArtsWave Annual Community Campaign.
Generously donated by Frisch’s, this collection includes 19 works in total, including two Mark Eberhard oil paintings, a John Dowd acrylic and four pieces by Cincinnati-based John A. Ruthven. Other artists include Ik-Joong Kang, Ester Levy, Dean Lamont Mitchell, Daniel Roache, Bruce Riley and Adam J. Hayward.

John A. Ruthven Limited Edition Offset Lithograph "John Audubon”
A limited edition offset lithograph on paper titled John James Audubon: Sketching Cliff Swallows – Cincinnati Riverfront and Licking River – 1820 by well-listed artist John A. Ruthven. Signed in plate and by hand in the lower left corner and the lower left margin, respectively. Titled in plate with a graphite remarque of a cliff swallow to the margin. Print is number 121 in an edition of 200; numbered with its edition to the lower right margin. Under a double layer of blue and gray mat, the item is presented under acrylic in a wood frame. A brass-tone plate explains that the work was presented to Craig F. Maier from the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History. A gallery label is present to the verso.

Ik-Joong Kang Mixed Media on Wood "Happy World (Birds 1)”
A mixed media on wood titled Happy World (Birds 1) by contemporary South Korean artist Ik-Joong Kang (New York; b. 1960), created in 2009. Rendered with square blocks of wood with resin and paint applied to created silhouettes and landscapes. Ceramic elements such as a vase with a flower and rooster have been applied to the wooden blocks. The piece is signed and dated on one of the blocks in the center. A descriptive gallery label from the Carly Solway Gallery is present to the verso.
Daniel Roache Painted Metal Sculpture Abstract Composition
A painted metal sculpture abstract composition by contemporary artist Daniel Roache, created in 2002. Depicted is a series of curved metal shapes placed among textured metal plates. Each metal has been painted with a vibrant color and some have faux textures. To the verso, is a label with artist name, hanging instructions, and a recommendation per the artist that the piece be hung against a yellow wall.
Bruce Riley Mixed Media on Panel "Bee Bonnet”
A mixed media on panel titled Bee Bonnet by Contemporary Chicago-based artist Bruce Riley, created in 2010. Rendered in layers paint within resin is a composition of oceanic forms resembling coral. The piece is signed, titled, and dated in ink to the verso on the panel.

John Dowd Acrylic Painting on Canvas of Minimalist Landscape
An acrylic painting on canvas titled Tourists Twilight of a minimalist landscape by listed Massachusetts artist, John Dowd (born 1960). This work features an extremely low horizon line populated with a row of simple purplish-blue pentagonal houses silhouetted against the colorful sunlit sky. The sky occupies a vast majority of the composition and graduates from light orange at the top to purple at the horizon line. The painting is signed to the lower right.
Adam J. Hayward Oil Painting on Canvas "Brook Canyon”
An oil painting on canvas titled Brook Canyon, created in 2007 by contemporary Cincinnati-based artist Adam J. Hayward. This large landscape features an interior view of a rocky canyon topped with a flat green terrain and mountains silhouetted in the background. A large tree grows from the interior of the canyon and is monumentally silhouetted against the vast blue sky filled with thick billowing clouds. The painting is signed with the artist’s monogram and dated to the lower left. It is presented in a gold-tone wood frame. Two descriptive labels, one from the Miller Gallery, are adhered to the verso.
Richard Anuskiewicz Signed Limited Edition Serigraph "Spectral Cadmium
A signed limited edition serigraph titled Spectral Cadmium, created in 1968 by renowned Op Art founder Richard Anuskiewicz (American, b. 1930). This work features a series of concentric squares in red, blue, and green in the center. With diagonal lines intersecting and blurring the boundaries between the squares, the artist creates a rhythmic vibration from the center to the outer edge of the composition. The work is signed by hand and dated to the lower right; it is numbered 26 out of an edition of 125 to the lower left. The print is presented under glass in a metallic silver-tone frame; a descriptive label from Cincinnati’s Carl Solway Gallery is adhered to the verso.
Dean Lamont Mitchell Oil Painting on Board of Mother and Child
An oil painting on board of a mother and child by listed Dean Lamont Mitchell (born 1957), dated 1997. This piece depicts a mother holding her daughter on her lap covered with a scarf on her head within yellow and blue tonalities in the background. This painting is signed and dated by the artist to the lower right corner. Presented without glass, beneath an off-white linen mat, housed in a lemon gilt frame.
Nancy Graves Limited Edition Stone Lithograph
A signed limited edition stone lithograph on hand-torn paper titled IV. Julius Caesar Quadrangle of the Moon by well-listed American artist Nancy Graves (1940-1995), dated 1972. This abstract print is one of the ten lithographs created by Graves for a portfolio inspired by lunar maps that were produced by NASA in preparation for the Apollo manned space missions to the moon. The green marks were inspired by markings on a particular lunar map seen by Graves. Each of the ten images was printed in an edition of 100 at Landfall Press Inc., Chicago. This print is signed, dated and numbered “III 100/100” in pencil to the lower margin. There is an embosed monogram present to the lower left. Presented behind glass, beneath a white mat, housed in an off-white wooden frame. There is Carl Soloway gallery and framer’s stamp affixed to the verso.
Graves’ works are included in many public collections, including those of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Walker Art Center. She was the first woman to receive a solo retrospective at the Whitney Museum.

This piece depicts a cheetah gazing directly at the viewer within beige tonalities in the background. This painting is signed and dated by the artist to the lower left corner. John Ruthven Limited Edition Offset Lithograph "Giant Pandas”
A signed limited edition offset lithograph on paper titled Giant Pandas from the Safaro Series by listed Ohio artist John Ruthven’s (born 1924). This print depicts two pandas interacting and eating among a bamboo forest. Signed by the artist in plate and in graphite to the lower right corner of the composition. Titled and numbered 4746 out of a 5000 edition to the lower margin. The inscription “Plate III” is present to the upper left corner. Presented behind glass, beneath off-white and green double matting, housed in a dark bamboo-like wooden frame. There is a gallery label present to the verso.
