Street Painting Design Meeting Planned by Fine Arts Fund

Cincinnati, OH – July 30, 2010

The Fine Arts Fund will celebrate the benefits of the arts on Cincinnati area communities, bringing people together to design and create a colorful street painting this fall.

On Tuesday, August 10, the Fine Arts Fund will host a community meeting to gather suggestions and design ideas for the street painting party.

The meeting will be held in the Lecture Hall at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, located at 1212 Jackson Street, 45202. It will last from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in helping to design the street art.

Michaele Pride of UC’s school of design will facilitate the conversation and the artists who will create the final design will be there to participate in the conversation. The artists include Matthew Dayler and Danny Babcock of Higher Level Art, and Pam Kravetz, Carla Lamb, and Karen Saunders who worked on the Fine Arts Fund surprise bus galleries last winter.

The street painting, which will occur in September, will use 12th Street from Main Street to Central Parkway as its canvas. The design will consist of larger bursts of art, with a unifying pattern in between that ties each section to the next. The street painting party will bring people from all over the region together to create a lasting painting on the pavement that makes the neighborhood vibrant and exciting.
